Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills ended their two-game losing streak in Week 9 with their most dominant win of the 2025 NFL season, taking down Andy Dalton and the Carolina Panthers 40-9 on the road. Now, the Bills will look toward Week 9, eyeing revenge as they face Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game.

Allen wasn’t forced to do too much against the Panthers through the air, completing 12 of 19 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, but added two scores on the ground. Running back James Cook III led the charge for Buffalo with his best game of the year, tallying 19 carries for 216 yards and two scores. But the Bills did all this without one of their top receivers.

Joshua Palmer, after four seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers, was a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, selected by the Los Angeles Chargers. After an underwhelming first four seasons in the NFL, Palmer departed Los Angeles, signing a three-year deal to play with the Bills. And through six games this year, the wide receiver has tallied 14 catches for 234 yards.

But in a Week 6 loss against the Atlanta Falcons, Palmer suffered an ankle injury, leaving him out through the Week 7 bye and against the Panthers. After not participating in practice yet again on Wednesday, Palmer made his return to the field as a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.

Yet the Bills didn’t want to take any chances against the Chiefs, officially ruling Palmer out for a second consecutive game. Along with Palmer, defensive tackle DaQuon Jones (calf) and linebacker Shaq Thompson (hamstring) were ruled out.

“DT DaQuan Jones, WR Joshua Palmer and LB Shaq Thompson have been ruled out for #BUFvsKC,” the Bills wrote on X.

Allen and the Bills will host Mahomes and the Chiefs on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
