Alabama basketball guard Labaron Philon will not be available for the Crimson Tide’s nonconference finale against Yale.
Field of 68 reporter Jeff Goodman posted to X that Philon would be out with a “minor thigh/groin injury,” per coach Nate Oats.

Sources of The Tuscaloosa News shared Philon recently had an MRI for an undisclosed injury that would leave him sidelined against the Bulldogs and possibly the SEC opener against Kentucky.
Goodman added Oats was “hopeful” Philon would be available for Kentucky.
The Yale game on Monday, Dec. 29, is the first the sophomore will miss in what has been an All-American-worthy season thus far.
Averaging 21.6 points per game, Philon ranks eighth nationally in scoring. He is also averaging 3.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
During Philon’s freshman year, he dealt with a nagging ankle injury that impacted his availability through January and February.

The Crimson Tide’s highly touted backcourt will see how it fares with the absence of Philon when No. 15 Alabama (9-3) tips off against unranked Yale (11-1) at 7 p.m. CT on SECNetwork+, which can be streamed via ESPN+.
