Speculation has been flying over the past few weeks that EsDeeKidsa Liverpool rapper who performs with his face shrouded around his eyes, is actually the musical side project of actor Timothée Chalamet. Now, they’re both nodding to the rumors with an official collaboration on EsDeeKid’s “4 Raws Remix,” releasing both a song and a video featuring an appearance together.
Chalamet is no stranger to the rap world, as he has long been an avowed fan of the genreand his appearance on the track is a direct nod to the numerous headlines and social media sleuthing that have recently dogged them. Of course, it doesn’t answer the question of whether EsDeeKid is actually Chalamet — the rapper’s face is still shrouded in the “4 Raws Remix” video, and it could just be a stand-in — but it certainly feeds into the narrative that he has a secret side gig as a British emcee.
On the track, Chalamet shouts out his upcoming film “Marty Supreme” numerous times and makes a vague reference to his girlfriend Kylie Jenner. Chalamet slyly refers to the alter ego rumors at the start of the clip, covering the bottom half of his face with a bandana that he pulls down when his verse hits full throttle: “It’s Timothée Chalamet chillin’, tryin’ to stack $100 million / Girl got a billion / What the fuck, what a wonderful feeling,” raps the actor, who poses in a kitchen and the back of a limo next to EsDeeKid. “My life is an opera, look at the Oscars, look at the groupies, look at the movies.”
Chalamet, who’s currently on the promotional circuit for “Marty Supreme,” was recently asked directly during an appearance on “Heart Breakfast” if he’s been moonlighting as EsDeeKid. “I got no comment on that,” he responded. “Two words: All will be revealed in due time.”
