Best Guess Live is a weekday mobile game show where you have to outsmart the rest of America if you want a shot at a jackpot worth thousands. It’s a lot like trivia night at your local watering hole, except you can play it pretty much anywhere. There are two rounds in each game, and each round has five increasingly descriptive clues as to what’s tucked away inside the crystal ball.

You can play Best Guess Live — in the US only — every weekday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. Episodes are roughly 30 minutes long, and there are two puzzles per episode. The first puzzle is a bit easier, so the prize pot is a bit smaller. The second puzzle, on the other hand, has a bigger payout — but will test your brain a bit more.

Best Guess Live is co-hosted by none other than Howie Mandel, stand-up legend and longtime judge on America’s Got Talent, Canada’s Got Talent, and Deal or No Deal. Elder millennials might recognize him as the voice of both the titular character and his father on the ’90s cartoon Bobby’s World too.

How do you play Best Guess Live?
To play Best Guess Liveall you need is Netflix, your phone, and your wits. Each round goes something like this:
- The crystal ball gets loaded with a secret item.
- You’ll get five clues, each building on the previous to help you submit your best answer.
- After each clue, you’ll have 20 seconds to type your answer into your phone.
- You only have one chance to win each round — no typos allowed.
- The answer has to be exactly right.
- If your answer is wrong, you’re out for that round.
- Everyone who answers what’s in the crystal ball correctly — on the earliest clue — shares the jackpot.
- If you’re the only one who answers correctly, that round’s jackpot is yours and yours alone.
- After the final clue is revealed, Howie or Hunter will work back from the last clue to determine who answered correctly — and earliest.
If you didn’t submit the right answer at the right time in the first round, don’t fret: there’s always the second round, with a bigger prize pot. However, you should know that a bigger jackpot means the round will be harder. Hopefully you’ve got your thinking cap ready.
How many questions are in each game?
Each episode features two puzzles, each lasting 6 to 8 minutes, with a cash prize awarded for every puzzle.
How many winners can there be per game/puzzle?
The number of winners is variable. Answer correctly on the earliest clue to share the jackpot.
Are the puzzle answers case sensitive?
While answers are not case sensitive, they must be fully and correctly spelled out. For example, if the correct answer is “International Olympic Committee,” you can’t just enter “IOC.”
How much money can you win on Best Guess Live?
Normally, Best Guess Live features a prize pool of $15,000 per episode, split across two puzzles each weekday.
But for the special holiday week of Monday, Dec. 22, through Friday, Dec. 26, the prize pool is being raised to a total of $1 million.
